There is nothing I love more then making something new and usable again that someone else would have thrown out or torn down!
Taking the house my mom grew up in, the farm my grandparents shared for over fifty years, come and see how we made it the home we're going to grow old in.
This blog is based on my "Grandma's House" that is: my mom's mom: Charlotte. Charlotte and Arvid lived for over fifty years in this old farm house that they purchased in the fall of 1950.
By the spring of 2013 I had lost both of my grandmas and had a garage full of ancient furniture and so much sadness I could barely breathe. And that's where Joe found me: dirty and under a dresser at the end of that long summer. I never wanted him to leave.
So it looks like Joe and I still love each other after finishing the renovation of my Grandma’s 100 year old farm house . . . of course when I say “finished” I’m using the term pretty broadly - what’s that horrible thing they say about a house never being done? Anyway, after all of that it was time to give this blog a facelift! Don’t worry the old blog is still there (and always will be) it was just time to retire it. Go check it out to see my detailed plans and the whole renovation experience (*cough* nightmare *cough*) all the way through from April 2014 until August 2015 when we finally moved in and moved over to this new site design.
