Christmas (or any occasion!) homemade men’s gift basket, a few treats I made myself just for the men in my life! I don’t know about you but I find shopping for men a whole heck of a lot harder then shopping for women. They tend to just run out and buy whatever they want and though I know a bunch of men who would be quite happy getting chocolate for Christmas I still find them darned hard to shop for. So, this year, I tackled a gift basket that I could easily put together just for the guys!
First I headed to Amazon (shocking I know) in an attempt to find an inexpensive basket that was strong enough to support what I intended to add to it. First thing is first: baskets are expensive! Second thing: I actually managed to find one with handles that would work for less then $10!
I had some big rope leftover from when I made my hanging flower boxes so I laced it around the basket to add a little more charm. I tucked the ends of the rope inside. I added two things for my homemade men’s gift basket that have been totally man approved that I make for us. The first one is the post you guys saw last week of my Homemade men’s hand scrub for a gift or for seriously stinky fingers and my homemade chap stick because every guy I know appreciates having some decent lip balm on hand and my recipe tastes like a peppermint sugar cookie 🙂 I grabbed one of my husband’s old plaid shirts that was in my rag heap and wrapped up the hand scrub and tied it with twine.
From there I really felt like I needed one more thing so I whipped up a batch of my Christmas coffee. Did you ever watch the show Two and a half men? Well, at one point, the brother that moved in decided that he could do the maid’s job and save them some money. The first thing complained about was that his coffee wasn’t nearly as good. When asked why it was because her coffee always tasted “Christmasy” well, we finally find out that it was because she added a dash of cinnamon to the filter.
I ground some decent coffee (enough for one strong pot) before adding a dash of ground cinnamon and a dash of ground ginger. It smells so good its just ridiculous, I had to make a pot immediately after mixing this together lol. I then went looking for a manly mug and found this one on Amazon for less then $20. I carefully wrapped the coffee in the filter and secured it with twine before tucking it into the mug.
I lined the whole basket in kraft paper (I get mine here) before putting it all together. That pretty coffee mug actually came with a cool little wooden spoon so, of course, I included that too.
All in this entire men’s gift basket cost me less then $30 to put together and there are just so many ways this could be customized! Instead of coffee of course you could include tea or hot chocolate or even apple cider or how about one of those cute little bottles of flavored liqueur? Who doesn’t love a shot of Baileys!?
Hi Tarah, I’m visiting from Inspire Me Monday at Create With Joy.
This would be perfect for my husband, he is SO HARD to buy gifts for, mostly because he’s a computer geek and anything he would want is way above my ability to understand. :O) I know he would like the fact that things were DIYs. You’ve definitely got me thinking!
Here’s my Inspire Me Monday for this week!
Thanks for coming by LuAnn! Isn’t that the truth though, guys are SO hard to buy for! If the basket was bigger I would have thrown in a quart of my homemade pickles too!
I love this idea! For some reason, it’s just so hard to come up with nice gifts for men. I think my husband would appreciate the coffee mix with a Bailey’s mini bottle. I’ll be pinning this! Season’s greetings from the Inspire Me Monday linky.
Thank you for coming by!

Tying the rope really elevated the basket itself plus I love all of the goodies on the inside.
