Giving my bathroom a makeover this spring was one of many steps on my way to reclaiming my space after a divorce. I truly just flew by the seat of my pants, added things that I loved and simply just went for it. I love how my bathroom feels now and can’t believe how just some inexpensive additions made such a huge difference!

They say the best places to invest in your home is bathrooms and kitchens and I think bathrooms can really give you the most bang for your buck!

A coat of paint can do wonders, changing out fixtures (or just painting them!) can take a dated space and make it feel modern and beautiful in just a matter of hours.

(The following is a contributed article all about some of the new bathroom trends!)

As the seasons change, the desire to renovate becomes stronger. We all know how hard it is to resist the allure of the redesign process!

While other homeowners will focus on their living room or kitchen, you can make the most of this redesign period by focusing on your bathroom. In fact, one of the best ways to breathe new life into a home is to renovate the washroom. This is the area where we freshen up daily; thus, it deserves a little TLC every once in a while.

Through some quick upgrades, you can make even the oldest washroom feel new and chic. Here are 6 new bathroom trends you should try for renovating your bathroom.

  1. Scale Back Your Design through Minimalism

In the current design world, less is more. Thus, if you truly want your bathroom to shine, you may be best suited by using a minimalistic approach. This is accomplished through subtleties of design and furniture.

As of late, homeowners are really loving the simple design elements of freestanding tubs and floating vanities. These untethered objects imply that the space is open and free from boundaries. By using techniques like this, you can create impeccably clean lines and a more expansive sense of space. You’ll be amazed to discover how roomy and airy your bathroom will feel.

  1. Embrace Elegance through a Rose Gold Colour Scheme

One of the biggest renovation trends is appearing in the form of rose gold. People are adopting rose gold walls, floors, and accent pieces. This trend doesn’t need to stop in your main living areas. Why not implement rose gold in your bathroom as well?

Many retailers stock rose gold faucets, sinks, and appliances. If you don’t want to fully commit just yet, you can always invest in something temporary. This would be something like a rose gold toilet seat cover or rug. All you need is that simple accent colour to truly elevate a room into elegance!

  1. Change Up Your Flooring

To revitalise your bathroom, sometimes you have to start from the ground up! By upgrading your old tile to luxury flooring, you can create an entire new personality for your washroom. You can create a luxurious and effective look through using porcelain tile, or if you prefer a hardwood exterior, you can always use luxury vinyl flooring.

If you truly want to take your design to the next level, check out epoxy flooring. This plastic material is nearly resistant to any form of degradation or decay. It will do all of this while making your bathroom look stylish and chic. Epoxy flooring is also incredibly cost effective. Whether you’re looking for epoxy flooring in Perth or anywhere else,  it’s very easy to find this advantageous material at a reasonable price.

  1. Add a Pastoral Touch with Wood Grain

If you want to add a rustic element to your bathroom, consider implementing wood grain into your design. The exposed grain instantly grounds out your bathroom with a pastoral sensibility.

You can always use wood grain in your vanity or cabinets, but it doesn’t need to stop there! You can buy a wood grain basin, which will be equal parts cosy and trendy. You can also use this design in the walls and floor of your shower.

  1. Change Up the Lighting

The simplest renovation that you can undertake is in your lighting. It’s amazing how a space can change through making a few minor technical adjustments.

Feel free to get playful with your lighting decisions! You can install dimmers, which will give you the power to manually adjust your mood lighting levels. You can bathe your shower in sunlight by investing in an overhead skylight. Or, you can give your mirror some extra clarity with a vanity lighting scheme.

  1. Take Advantage of Your Space

In this day and age, the best way to renovate your bathroom is to focus on organisation. Our current era is defined by our ability to make the absolute most of our space. So, do that!

Revitalise your medicine cabinet through a persistent organisational method. Add shelving to your bathroom to keep all clutter away from your feet. You can even purchase drawer organisers to keep all your toiletries tidy and well-arranged. You’ll feel so accomplished when you see how organised and maintained your space is.
