Of all the rooms in this old farmhouse of ours I would definitely say that our master is VERY fancy. It even makes me FEEL fancy. What’s lovely is just how much for very little we can do to improve our bedrooms. new bedding, a new color on the walls, a more temperate way of heating and cooling. Even just a simple fan to help move the air around and drown out static noise can go a very long way in making our bedrooms serve us better.

When it comes to your home, every single room should be treated with love and respect. Your house is more than just a place to stay in, after all. It becomes a huge part of your life and something that will be worked on pretty much every day until you depart. The attachment you feel to it becomes more than just a legal and financial one – you start to feel as though the home is almost like a family member. It’s an emotional day for many when the time comes that they must leave and hand the keys over for good.
While every room matters, we all have our favorite areas, and they usually tend to get a little more love and attention than the others. The living room is the main hub of a home, so that will usually receive plenty of work and decoration. Kitchens and bathrooms always need to be kept in pristine condition, of course, so they’re high up in most people’s lists.
The bedroom, however, is your own personal space. This is where you lay at the end of the day. It’s where you feel most comfortable, and where you can absolutely be yourself whenever you want. Due to this personal attachment you’ll have to the room you’ll call your own, it’s probably wise that you enhance it and create the perfect space for you.
If you’re not exactly the most creative or quite the problem-solver you’d like to be, then the idea of boosting your bedroom might seem like somewhat of a tedious task – it doesn’t have to be that way, though.
You don’t have to be a fully-qualified and experienced interior designer to make the most of your abode! Here are some things you can do in order to turn your bedroom into something you’ll fancy a lot more:
Clear Things Up – And Do It Regularly
It’s easy for things to pile up in your room without you really realizing it. One minute you’ve got a blank canvas of a bedroom with an absolutely spotless floor, and then the next thing you know, you’ve got a floor full of papers, boxes, and other random items.
Decluttering your room isn’t going to be number one on your to-do list, and it’s not the most glamorous job in the world, but it will absolutely make your room a lot more attractive. If you can get into the habit of doing this kind of thing once or week or every fortnight, then you’ll consistently have a good foundation to work with.
Organize EVERYTHING
This might sound like another tedious task that you might not want to do initially, but when you think about it, it’s actually a brilliant idea and will set you up for the long-term.
If you just kind of put things where you think they might belong, then, over time, you’ll forget where something is, and you’ll spend ages looking for it when you need it. That’s not very productive. Write out a little plan and find a place for absolutely everything. When you have a proper setup, your bedroom looks so much better and functions brilliantly.
This kind of behavior will then help you further on down the line when you organize things in the future!
Make The Bed As Comfy As Possible
The bed is the main part of the bedroom, of course – it’s the centerpiece and where you’ll spend a lot of time relaxing. Now, you don’t want to have an ugly bed that feels horrible, do you? A good night’s sleep is vital, and you’ll want to make sure you’ve got all the energy in the world every single morning. You’ll also want the bed to look the part, too, right? Who looks at an ugly one and wants to hop in those blankets? Look online for the best possible bed for you.
Thankfully, there are thousands of different kinds with lots of different aspects, like Standard Textile Cumulus bedding, so you probably won’t run into much trouble. Let’s not pretend the bed is just for you, remember! You’ll want others who might stay over to be impressed with the sack they’ll be resting in, too.
The Colours Matter
As we’ve mentioned, you’re going to be in this room for a lot of your life, so you’ll want to make sure every aspect hits the spot.
So, with that said, you have to take into account the colors on the walls and on the items of furniture. It might sound like a small part of it all, but the human mind can be swayed by these kinds of things. If your bedroom wall is currently blank and white, then you have a canvas to play around with – so that’s handy.
Be sure to pick something that will make you feel at ease as soon as you enter. It’s quite a commitment, so you’ll need to be sure about what you pick.
Think About An Ensuite Bathroom
Ensuite bathrooms are very fancy, aren’t they? If you’ve always lived with one, then you probably won’t realize how privileged you actually are in this regard.
It’s something that would turn a boring bedroom into one you can brag about. Sure, it would cost a little, but it would make you feel a lot more comfy and happy with everything. No more sharing bathrooms or having to wait for anyone – it’s all yours!
What About The Overall Atmosphere?
A room needs to feel right. You need to enter and be at ease with the entire atmosphere. If it’s too hot or too cold, then you can remedy that a little, but the fundamental problem will still be there.
If there’s a distinct smell to it – one that’s not very pleasant – then that can ruin the quality of the entire place. Think about getting some candles or some air conditioning in order to make the overall feel much more appealing if you haven’t already.
These kinds of things can really impact the way you (and others) feel about the home as a whole.
