Can rack dispensers, refrigerator and cabinet organizers and wire baskets for our freezer! You know you’re an adult when organizing makes your whole year better… It turns out Lodi and I drink a lot of liquids in our household – he jokes that when he first met me all I had in my refrigerator was pickles, condiments and beer and, honestly, that’s not that far from the truth! To be fair though, when I was single, there was just no reason to keep perishable food around. I don’t eat a lot and preparing a big meal just for myself felt redundant…

Even though I’m making us dinner about every night I work really hard at only making enough at a time which really helps us not over eat and keeps our refrigerator free of leftovers. I love La Croix and Lodi and I also generally have soda in the refrigerator for guests and a treat for us from time to time.

(Why I love La Croix: It has no sugar OF ANY KIND, no additives and no calories. (It really is just carbonated water.) I read a joke online once that said La Croix is just drinking TV static when someone yells a fruit flavor from the other room. Its a treat to me compared to plain water and it comes in a ton of different flavors.)

It all adds up to a lot of cardboard and cans to recycle though and my OCD cracking my forehead open every time I looked in the refrigerator!

(I own a carbonator to make my own soda water but the lack of options for flavoring it has really frustrated me to the point where I hardly ever use it at all anymore.)

We needed some kind of can rack or organizer badly!

Besides the amount of cans clogging up 1/4 of our refrigerator I was running into a similar problem with our canned goods in our cabinet. I like to keep all the makings for a couple of pots of chili on hand for a fast, tasty meal in a pinch!

You guys know I hate buying something when I’m at least a little convinced I could build it so these two purchases took me awhile to finally talk myself into… like nearly a year! When I finally pulled the trigger though I was far more excited than is at all cool.

Wow did we need a can rack or organizer or something of some kind!

I was a bit annoyed with the cost – it seemed to me they should have been a little less expensive but, I figured, if they changed my life for the better than $20 for two can racks that would each hold an entire 12 pack would be worth it.

This is the can rack I chose for our refrigerator.

At first glance I liked that it was a simple design and made of metal. After I took them out of the box I was even more happy with them. These racks are sturdy!

This turned into an odd form of refrigerator Tetris. At first I kept the can racks stacked but that felt like a total waste of space beside them. But our refrigerator wasn’t wide enough to do three racks across like my OCD really needed to be totally happy…

So I adjusted the shelves to fit two on each shelf and I didn’t hate it and it was really the only option.

After emptying the drawer and filling those racks up I did a little dance. OMG, it might not be perfect but this is about 90% better than what we were doing!

$40 for four can organizers? TOTALLY WORTH IT!

Not to mention: They’re easy to remove and don’t look half bad on the counter for easy access by the refrigerator should we need the refrigerator space for food etc.

Moving on to my cabinet and our canned goods situation. I could only see the front few cans and those I was precariously stacking – we needed a can rack here too.

I decided on this organizer because it gives space for nine different types of canned goods. Other organizers I looked at were deeper and more geared toward people who keep a lot of only a couple of different types.

Check out the one I chose here.

Once I pulled it out of the box though my stomach dropped: It was too tall lol

But that was OK! I don’t use our canned goods so much that moving it to a top shelf would drive me totally crazy so up it went leaving the lower shelf for other things that we use more often!

It really is amazing what delights you as an adult. But these two racks removed irritants in my day to day life and that can really add up. Life is so totally about the little things lol.

Besides that I’m sure we have ALL experienced opening the freezer and having a frozen chicken breast land on our foot. It dawned on me that a couple of baskets would totally fix the situation and, not to mention, got me WAY more organized in our freezer as well.

Here are the baskets I chose for our freezer and I can’t urge you guys enough, if you have a side by side freezer like ours, a couple of baskets are a total game changer!
