Curtains, the painful only option that I’ve found for closet doors. I’ve had a love / hate relationship with closet doors starting all the way back when I was a kid watching my mom having a fight with a set of bifold doors. Over the years I’ve lived with just about every option there is available: Bifolds, sliders, barn doors and hinged. Every one of them has failed me in some way and annoyed me in others.

Bifold doors at least get mostly out of the way if they work properly as opposed to sliders that always cover up one half of the closet at a time. And regular hinged doors require a lot of empty space to open out from the closet that usually isn’t even available in most rooms.

And sliding barn doors require the walls around them to be wide enough and be empty, again requiring extra space.

I don’t hate the closet doors I made for this house but I also don’t love them and want to replace them with something…

I did a bunch of google searches trying to see what other options people have figured out and ran into countless pictures of… the closet doors that I made *facepalm*

To sum up: I have found no great solution lol

But with the office now coming together the giant closet of tools in the space feels a bit jarring and busy.

(I actually wouldn’t hate bifolds but this house is so unlevel that if I installed them correctly they would look terrible.)

So really my only option is curtains.

The rug I purchased for this room awhile back is definitely boho and a little girly which I really love. The sunflower stencil I put on the doggie door was also in that same theme.

So I was on a mission to find curtains that were interesting, boho, not too girly and not so bold that they took over the room.

These are the black kind of tribal curtains I decided on, I purchased four panels.

One thing I didn’t like about those curtains though was they had a pocket along the top for the rod so I also purchased a set of rings so the curtains would slide super easy.

A black curtain rod was all I needed after that to get everything installed.

At first I was a little on the fence with the curtains… they are a little bit “funeral shroud” in my opinion lol but they are growing on me.

I’m glad I chose sheers that don’t totally block off the closet from the rest of the room, I feel it helps keep the room feeling as big as possible.

And I even kind of like that you can see the multiple different colors through the curtains but not too much.

All in I’m satisfied with the curtains and very excited to decorate – this room is almost done!

Bless you .. you have given me inspiration .. I hate my closet sliders .. the are heavy, awkward and always falling off the track .. and I love the way you hung them on the rings .. will definitely be given this a hard look when making over our bedroom .. thanks :0)
Note: I will be remaking my old closet doors into sewing tables .. the push holes make a great place to feed cords through .. :0)
