Hometalk Fall Decor Inspiration board! Summer is absolutely my favorite time of the year – you will NEVER hear me complaining about the heat lol But I honestly think that’s a fact simply because fall and spring are such short seasons here in northern MN. Fall for us could truly last all of three weeks like our spring did this year! And that’s just depressing lol because that means we’re settling into at least four months of some serious cold and snow.
But I digress, fall has my favorite holidays (Halloween and Thanksgiving) and there is just something special and spooky about the air turning colder, the nights getting longer and the sun setting earlier.
It is online though that truly tackles fall first. Our link party this week was basically one big plaid blanket of oranges, yellows and reds lol. Facebook is like getting hit in the face with a pumpkin over and over again.
I am crossing my fingers that we have some decent enough weather so I can get some nice photos of my farm as the leaves change. (This spring my farm bloomed and dropped their petals in a matter of days.)
Hopefully we don’t get the rain and wind like the massacre that took out my peonies this summer before I was able to get a single picture!
This wind down to cooler weather though I have found more peace in this year then I haven’t felt since childhood. Back in the days when I was working and mowing on my family’s golf course all summer by the time the fall hit we were all VERY READY FOR WINTER.
I haven’t felt that way since and always watched summer leave with a catch in my throat. This summer however, it feels as though I did it right. As if there was a set amount of work I needed to do on my yard and outside for me to find peace lol.
I had a lot of making up to do over the last few years whether it was my own honey-do list or just time spent outside with friends and family.
Last night I curled up in a blanket on my deck with a cup of hot apple cider and was totally happy with fall arriving. It felt good.
The night before I dug out my fire pit and had a little bon fire complete with good music, good company and hot toddies. Yep, I think I’m gonna enjoy fall this year. (Let’s home it last a couple months!)
Speaking of fall, here’s some inspiration from Hometalk!
