I admit in the past I haven’t done much decorating for the holiday around here. There was just always this little thing about budget lol. Not to mention generally far more important projects that I needed to put my dollars and time into. Things are changing around here though. We’ve managed to take several big projects off our plates so I realized we could afford to do a little holiday decorating.
Lodi has always been a big fan of the holidays while I’ve always been a bit more of a Grinch. However, even I’ll admit I was quite pleased with how little it cost to bring some holiday spirit to our main floor!
The cool skull in the kitchen Lodi brought with him when he moved in. Of any holiday we are both definitely more Halloween fans than any of the others!
(Though cooking for Thanksgiving is something I’ve always enjoyed.)
I knew how much it might mean to him when he asked to carve pumpkins this year so, one day after that, I ran out and bought a few fall decorations.
It dawned on me that I could decorate our home and it not be “out dated” for two months. Of course pumpkins work beautifully for Thanksgiving as well as Halloween decorating!
I was pleasantly surprised to find our current décor actually lended itself quite nicely to the oranges and yellows and reds of fall. I changed out some of the flowers and greenery I had in the vases around the house, finding many of the faux flowers I already had could stay and still look nice paired with the fall colors.
I found a cute welcome pumpkin sign for the door and several scare crows to scatter about.
The last was a holiday pumpkin banner for across the front of our entertainment center.
Lodi came home from work surprised and very happy to see us all dressed up for the holidays.
Another fun plan for us is we’re going to go all out this year for Xmas!
Seeing as its our first as husband and wife Lodi and I are going to be picking out a whole new tree and all new ornaments and decorations!
