There are a lot of changes taking place here at my Grandma’s old farmhouse. You guys know now that I got divorced and that means new and very different plans for the whole house. My old office is now going to become my guest bedroom and library and it felt really important to refinish all of the furniture that will be going in there. So, I got to work!
I started with the old steel bed frame and desk that my Grandparents’ made for me that you guys saw last week and then I tackled this old bedside table. A couple of years back I had painted all of this furniture to make someone else happy well, it was time to take my furniture back! I was so excited to get rid of that awful green last week on the bed that I did this little end table not two days later!
I chose light gray acrylic paint for this project and I ended up doing FOUR coats. If I had known I was going to be doing this you can guess I would NOT have painted it all in black Rustoleum a couple of years ago! lol
But, four coats later and a couple of new shiny knobs on the front, I think this old little end table grew up a whole heckuva lot! I ran to my local dollar store and found that sweet little basket to put underneath it which I think will make a convenient trash can. (Someone please explain to me why so many beside tables have these big openings beneath the drawer with no shelf or anything. Does something go there that I just don’t know about? It makes absolutely no sense to me… I should have just put a shelf in but I got the basket for only $12 and it just seemed so perfect.)
Only two more projects for the final reveal: This room needs a “new” lamp (which, of course, I picked up for $8 at a local thrift store and gave it a makeover) and it also kinda needs a door lol well I have the perfect, 100 year old, exterior solid wood glorious old door and I can’t wait to show you how I chose to refinish it. Almost ready for the whole room reveal! Stay tuned!
Wow, that’s what I call a transformation #inspirememonday@_karendennis

The table makeover is wonderful and I love the color and knobs. I don’t understand why some tables are like that either, but your decorations look great. I love the basket. Thanks for sharing at #HomeMattersParty

Never ever doubt the power of paint (a few coats sometimes huh?). Your night stand looks awesome in the light grey. Now that you mention it, why in heck do they make that big opening between drawer and bottom of stand? To pile books in?
Love you basket whole bunch more. Can hardly wait to see reveal of your guest room/library.
Have great rest of week end Tarah
Oh thank you so much JaneEllen! Just a couple more little tweaks and I’ll be ready for her reveal!
Taralynn,I have been following for a little while. I admire your spunk (may be dating myself)!
The space below the drawer was (a century ago) where you kept your chamberpot. I am an older countrygirl. lol
Twila, I had no idea but that makes sense actually lol! Thanks so much for coming by!
