I think everyone should at least be interested in lowering their bills if not already doing everything they can. I mean, seriously, who doesn’t want to save money? There’s a lot of jokes made about spending $125 and six weeks to finally harvest our first .25 vegetable from our garden (lol) however, a garden can actually do a lot to bring household bills down especially if you would already be buying produce for your household. I estimate with our garden Lodi and I save nearly $1,000 between pickles, frozen vegetables and the tons of fresh produce we eat all summer long!

Everyone has household bills to pay. Paying them isn’t fun nor something to look forward to, especially when they are considerably high.

No matter what home you live in or what lifestyle you lead, it is quite easy to reduce the cost of your household bills.

To start saving money today – the smart way – here’s how.

Get new windows

New windows are an investment, to begin with. But, over time you will soon make the money back. The right windows will help you regulate the temperature in your home, which will help your home become more energy-efficient – your home will stay cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.

You could get new windows by Approved Contractor, Inc that will ensure that your home is more energy-efficient. There are many styles and designs to choose from so that you can fulfill your appearance needs while reducing the costs of your bills.

The right windows will also help to improve the air quality in your home, as the rooms will no longer feel stuffy due to a reduction in condensation. They will work to regulate the temperature and help you avoid those wet and soggy windows, which can result in better air circulation.

Switch energy supplier

If you feel that you are paying too much for energy, then the smartest thing to do is switch providers. You can start saving money on your bills immediately by changing to a supplier than will offer you a better deal.

When you tell your current supplier that you wish to move to save money, they might even encourage you to stay by offering a great deal. Choose whichever is cheapest and take advantage.

Stop taking long hot showers and baths

Although you might enjoy a long hot shower, they use a lot of water. Therefore, they cost a lot of money.

When you need a shower, it is best to have a shorter one (if you still want it hot). Or, turn the temperature down. The cooler and quicker your showers are, the cheaper they will be.

Likewise, try to avoid filling the bathtub up all the way to the top with hot water. Again, this uses excessive amounts of hot water, which isn’t cheap.

Grow your own produce if you have garden space

If you have garden space and some spare time, then use it wisely and grow your own produce. Doing so will not only give you something to do, but it will also help to lower the cost of your grocery bill.

It can take some time to get a decent amount of produce from a patch. But, patience is key, and eventually, you can start growing enough to cover your fruits and veggies from your weekly shop.

These simple tips will soon help you lower the cost of your household bills and start saving more money. There is no need to pay excessive bills and there is always a way around reducing them.

And turn the lights off when you leave a room! Also, don’t hold the frig door open any longer than necessary!
