In March 2022, all in just a few days, our temperature went from a record breaking -25 to almost 50! And, in true Minnesota fashion, we all went from complaining about the insane cold to freaking out and complaining that our basements are gonna flood lol. You just can’t please us. Regardless though the warm up was much much much appreciated. I don’t know how many posts I saw on Facebook mentioning how much better people FEEL just seeing warmer temps.

Last year we chose to buy three skids of pellets instead of the usual two. (That’s 180 bags as opposed to the usual 120) We would usually run out this time of the year and have to run and get more which was annoying.

And any bags leftover we would have just used next winter…

Guys, we won’t have any bags leftover.

This winter was so outrageously brutal that we will use every single one of them!

Throughout March 2022 and February this year I did a serious amount of even more purging and reorganizing. I also didn’t replace it with ANYTHING. I really just purged.

(Three full car loads to the dump and two car loads to the thrift store.)

It felt really good.

LESS REALLY IS MORE TO ME.

March 2022 I realized I was wasting space in our spice cabinet and finally just couldn’t stand the shelves I had purchased for our hutch anymore. Those horrible stand alone shelves had a little dip at the edge of each of them… Just perfect for tipping a mug off unexpectedly when a cabinet door opens and shifts things.

One very bruised toe and three broken mugs later, I was so over it.

What really ticked me off is that those shelves were advertised with pictures of glasses and mugs on them. (Unsurprisingly they can no longer be found on Amazon.)

Why wouldn’t they just make a shelf flat?

March 2022 I made two purchases to improve our kitchen lives.

Two WAY bigger and better shelves for our hutch.

And four racks for our spices so I could hang them up on the back of our cabinet door.

Before this all of our spices took up the back wall of the bottom shelf of the cabinet by our stove. That meant all of the space in front of our spices was totally wasted. Hanging them on the back of the door instead opened up almost the entire shelf for other storage.

March 2022 you guys will probably not be surprised at all to know that if I am capable of building something myself I feel really bad when I buy something instead…

I’ve learned though sometimes I’m just better off buying exactly what we need.

I spent $60 and know that these two purchases will be working for us for years upon years to come.

I was also able to use the hated shelves somewhere else holding much less fragile kitchen things…

Wedding updates:

So, we’ve got the date, the place, the time, the photographer, the limo and the officiant.

We still need my dress, his outfit, the dog’s outfit, the music choices and the table decorations.

We are working on the invitations and we have also picked the date and time of the reception.

Feeling pretty good about all of that considering the ceremony isn’t until June and the reception isn’t until September!

As much done as possible, as far ahead of time as possible, is just how I roll and thank goodness Lodi is on board with me.

March 2022 I think I’m going to be ordering my dress as there are very few options to go to try anything on without driving for hours away from where we live. I just can’t stand the idea of losing a whole day to not even finding what I’m looking for and I refuse to settle.

As you guys might imagine we’re far too level headed to spend a fortune on this. But we’re still spoiling ourselves, still splurging a bit and getting exactly what we dreamed of.

I believe its going to be a lovely little wedding.

And, for someone who is not at all a girly girl, I sure am looking forward to being Lodi’s wife… and maybe a beautiful bride too.

Lodi and I completed the entire second floor master suite giving us blog posts to share with you guys all the way into August!

And this weather has me more relieved than ever that we got so much done inside of the house because after that brutal winter we don’t want to be inside at all.

We’ve already emptied out the old well house, stashed everything that was in it in our crawl space and are working on making it into a bunk house.

March 2022

We’re still trying to decide if we want to get our yard covered in a new layer of dirt and reseeded this spring or to wait another year.

The horrible drought and heat all last summer has me really gun shy…

We’re having the reception out here in late summer and it would be such a bummer to have a yard of dirt. Of course we could water it but, dang it, with the wedding and everything I’m hesitant to add more stress to our plates.

After the enormous challenges, work, time and spending we put ourselves through last summer… my 2022 mantra is officially:

LESS IS MORE!

So glad it’s finally thawing out for you folks back there! My best friend finally fulfilled her dream of moving back to Minnesota and buying a lovely farm house, right beside a beautiful lake no less, this past summer. Her poor husband, born and raised here in Arizona, went from being astounded at how much grass he had to mow to “My God is there going to be this much snow every year?” 😂 Looking forward to following along as your wedding plans come together. I was so very happy for you when you and Lodi found each other. Always thought you deserved much better than that stick in the mud fella you were with when I first started following your site.🙂

Oh my gosh I can’t imagine moving up here from Arizona lol that would be a serious change in weather conditions! Phew this last one was a rough one, so glad to see some better temps for us! Of course now there’s rumors of a major snow storm in a couple of days lol. Thanks for coming by Stephany!
