We haven’t had the best track record when it comes to motion sensor solar lights. Lodi purchased a large $40 light right when he moved in and he put it down in our horse barn. It was nice because the actual solar panel was separate so we could put the panel on the roof and the light inside as far as the fifteen foot cord would reach. It seemed perfect but the sensor almost NEVER worked. We would test it – it would work. Next day, when we wanted it to work, it didn’t work lol. It was SO annoying.
The light is still down in the barn and it works fine if we just use the very hard to reach difficult to use on and off switch on the side of it. Its very bright etc. But we almost never use it because what we actually needed down there was a light with a motion sensor.
So, I was pretty unimpressed with the entire concept and not totally sold that ANY motion sensor solar lights worked.
But here’s the thing: we really needed exactly that for our long dark winters here in northern MN.
We have a yard light but, once again, its not convenient to turn on as the switch is at the pole and we don’t just want to leave it on all the time so we practically never use it.
If we remember we have an outside light on the house that we leave on so we’re not coming home in the dark… but we don’t always remember to flick it on when we leave in the morning.
And that light doesn’t exactly give us a lot of reach to the garage either so, very often, we’d be walking across the yard in the dark all winter long. Doable but I’ve wanted some better lighting out there for a long time!
Amazon Prime day came around and I ran into a deal I just couldn’t pass by. I got two two packs of these motion sensor solar lights for the price of just one pack!
We were both hesitant to get these mounted before testing so we turned them on, put them in the sun out on our dark and tested them for over a month before I installed them.
Guys, these are AMAZING, I can’t believe how well they work and how bright they are for such a low price tag. One less thing I wanted to get done for us this fall before the snow flies!
Now I need to decide on where to put the other two. Above the other garage door is always an option and seems the obvious one. I’m considering putting one on the front of the house near the front door too or maybe one out back so our dog Annie will have a light come on when she goes through her doggie door and uses her kennel.

Wow, those look great. They seem to put off a lot of light. Great Prime Day deal!
Thanks NIky!
