This spring for me has been ALL about organize and purge! Keeping a minimalist and yet also being able to organize it can be a challenge in and of itself honestly. Minimalizing means to keep less stuff however, we still all have and need quite a bit of said stuff. (And there is nothing wrong with keeping some things just because we love them.) I still think we can live a wonderfully minimalized lifetime and still keep things and stuff organized without adding any clutter!

Minimalism is something that has been so popular over the few years. It’s been a way to say goodbye to overconsuming habits, fighting off the “need” to fill up every space in your home, plus, it’s been proven to be good for mental health. Nobody likes clutter. Clutter has specifically been linked to creating anxiety and even depression. Oftentimes, how you feel is going to be directly based on how your environment is within your home. But where exactly can you get started on creating minimalistic habits? Here’s everything you need to know!
Choose one room in your house that is the dedicated space for everything. Whether it is for a home office, a playroom, or a guest room, the space should be clear of clutter and clutter-makers. You can also designate an area of your house as the “home office” and use that as your single space. Assigning each room in your home with a purpose will create these fake barriers, and these barriers will help you know what you can, and can’t do. These zones will allow you to fight off putting unnecessary items in other spaces.
Minimalism is a lifestyle that requires less to be more. This means that you have to purge your closet and keep it packed with your most-wanted items. The first step to purging your closet is to create a list of the items you want to keep. You can use this list as a guide when you’re shopping. But there are even apps where you can record the items that you already own.
But keep in mind, it’s not just about clothes, but it’s everything in the house you should keep track of. Purge the whole house, see what is and what is not needed. But keep in mind, just because you’re removing items doesn’t mean you have beautifully decorate your bedroom, or any other space. Minimalism and minimalism spaces aren’t about having a lifeless room.
If you have cabinets and drawers in your home, make sure you completely utilize them. It’s going to make the whole decluttering and minimalistic journey so much easier. While minimalism is all about being selective with what you own, there are some things that you’re going to need. But hiding these items in cabinets and drawers is going to make your home look so much better, and you can still keep all the important stuff.
For those who are in need of extra space for their belongings, or want to store items that aren’t used on a regular basis, self-storage units are the solution. They provide an inexpensive and convenient way to store your belongings while you are away from home. There are even mini storage units in case you don’t have too much that needs to be put up (such as holiday decorations).
