One hardship we massively face here in northern Minnesota is really finding anything that we can leave outside that can last through our severe climate. Our records go from 120 degrees in our summers to -50 degrees in our winters. Of course, it isn’t usually quite that extreme, but even this year we’ve already seen -20 and +100 just in the last six months. So, finding outdoor decor we can actually leave outside all year can be really difficult!

When we are thinking of home décor we often miss out on decorating the outdoors. This can seriously impact the way our home looks to guests. Outdoor spaces are an extension of our homes and therefore you need to focus on decorating them as well. Choosing the right decorations isn’t just about making it look good, but also enhancing its durability and longevity against harsh climate changes.

Hence, you need to be clear about how you will make the most of the options available and use that to improve your outdoor décor the right way.

Choose Durable Materials

Unlike indoor furniture, outdoor furniture is always exposed to changing climatic and weather conditions. This means that you need to be clear about choosing durable materials when you plan to refresh your patio. Choosing weather-resistant options like teak, powder-coated steel and aluminum would be ideal as they can stand the test of time and offer excellent looks as well. These materials can withstand rain, sun, and wind without losing their appeal. This would ensure that you do not have to repair or replace them frequently.

Choose Low-Maintenance Options

If you are someone who stays busy you can always look out for low-maintenance materials. This would allow you to keep your outdoors beautiful without having to pay a lot of attention. You can look for furniture made from resin wicker or composite wood that mimics natural textures but offers excellent durability. You can also incorporate some of the popular low-maintenance plants like succulents that would enhance the overall vibe of the outdoor space without requiring much of your attention. You can also incorporate vertical gardens if you are running short of space.

Go for a Modular Seating Arrangement

Different homes have different space requirements. This means that you need to be clear about how you can move around your outdoor furniture every now and then. With the help of modular seating arrangement, you have the liberty to move around these versatile pieces and change the overall looks of the outdoor space. With multiple configurations, you can make your outdoor spaces look amazing. This also means that you do not have to invest regularly in new furniture that can impact your budget.

Invest in Quality Rugs

One of the best ways to add color to outdoor space is to use outdoor rugs. These rugs are available in a variety of designs and colors and this means that you can choose the ones that match and blend with your home decor. Outdoor rugs are made from polypropylene and other weather-resistant materials and therefore they are easy to clean and manage. A well-chosen rug can tie together your outdoor decorwhile providing you with a cozy and comfortable feel. You can look for different rug sizes that you will need to cover your outdoor space.

Incorporate Weatherproof Lighting

While you might enjoy enough sunlight during the day hours in your outdoor space you need to think about how you can enjoy the same level of comfort and vibe after sunset hours. For this, you need to incorporate the right lighting that allows you to transform your outdoor space into a cozy retreat or an entertainment hub. These days you can look for solar-powered lights, LED lanterns, and even path lights that can withstand tough weather conditions.

Choose Weather-Resistant Décor Accents

Apart from the furniture you would also want to personalize your outdoor space with something that reflects your personality. Hence, you can look out for sculptures, wind chimes, and decorative lanterns made from weather-resistant materials like stone, ceramic, and treated metal. This would ensure that you can keep them in the outdoor space as they can withstand rough climate conditions.
