4 Ideas to Upgrade Your Outdoor Space

Our new lower deck and fire pit area are already my favorite outdoor space that we have and we barely had the chance to enjoy it before the weather turned cold this year! But I look forward to it for many years to come along with out main deck which is pretty much where you’ll always find me when the weather is nice. Especially living in a place that has such long winters I think making sure we have spaces outside to expand our living area when the weather makes it possible is really important.

No matter if you live in a city or the suburbs, your outdoor space can be upgraded. If you are lucky enough to have a yard, there are many ways to enhance it. Here are some ideas on how to do just that!

#1 Build a deck

The first thing you want to do is build a deck. If you are willing, go all out with this project! Do not settle for an average-sized deck; make it huge if your budget allows. A deck will provide additional living space and can be used year-round. In addition, it provides an excellent place to entertain guests, which is how you will be spending most of your time when using the space.

Do not forget that a deck should be built in proportion with the rest of the house to make it look aesthetically pleasing. For example, if your home has high ceilings, then do not build a small deck. Instead, think about what level you want to have access from and use this as a guide for building one at least two feet higher than this height so people can walk up without assistance.

#2 Landscape the garden

After you have built your deck, the next step is to landscape it. If there are trees in your yard, then make sure they do not block any garden views from inside the house because this will ruin their aesthetics. It is also important that these trees provide enough shade for people sitting on the deck during hot summer days and nights and protect your outdoor space against winter winds.

If you want more privacy or just simply want to hide something like an unsightly shed, plant some tall bushes around it so nobody can see what’s going on behind them.

In addition, make sure to choose a low-maintenance type of grass since you will spend almost no time in the garden during the winter months and do not want to be stuck with a yard full of dead grass during this time! Your local gardening store should have plenty of options for perennials or even annuals that can survive neglect from homeowners. As for trees, stick with deciduous ones because they lose their leaves each fall, giving an opportunity for sunlight through your windows all winter long while also providing shade in summer.

#3 Install an outdoor shower

An outdoor shower is a great way to enhance your outdoor space. You can put it near the deck or inside the garden for easy access. This will allow you to rinse off before coming back into the house after spending time in nature without having to use your indoor one and risk getting the floors dirty.

Do not forget that a great outdoor shower should be made of stainless steel; otherwise, rusting will become an issue during wet seasons. There are also safety issues with using metal piping next to water running through it all day long! The best part about this addition? It adds value to your property since everyone wants their own personal shower outdoors nowadays!

#4 Create your own fire pit

Finally, you can create your own fire pit to enhance the atmosphere of your outdoor space. This is an excellent addition if you have a large garden since it provides warmth for outdoor gatherings and entertainment during cool summer nights or winter months!

Do not forget that having a fire pit means dealing with high temperatures, so make sure there are no trees around which could catch on fire from ashes flying through the air. Nobody wants to be responsible for burning down someone’s house, especially their very own!
