By some kind of coincidence I had literally just added a rain chain to my Amazon wishlist when I spotted this amazing one from Rain Chains Direct. I made my own gutters years ago using PVC pipe and they work great except this one end where the water comes out was giving my garden beneath it a beating every time it stormed. I thought about adding a down spout but those darned things are just ugly in my opinion. Then I spotted some amazing rain chains online and thought: That might work!
I used their gutter hanger and, even though I don’t have typical “gutters”, it still worked great! I just popped a hole saw to the end of my drill and drilled a hole for it. I was nervous and REALLY excited to see how it would work when it rained.
I didn’t have to wait long! Here in Minnesota right now we’re in what everyone is referring to as “monsoon season” serious rain almost every night like we live in the tropics. Even the old folks have never seen anything like this before. I have mushrooms sprouting everywhere and fungus growing on my property that I can’t even name!
Rain Chains Direct have a TON of options and chains to choose from so if you’re interested in getting one instead of a downspout I would definitely check them out. Mine works AWESOME, I can’t wait for next summer when my flower beds are blooming and now won’t get beaten up when it rains!
Rain Chains Direct is hosting this giveaway and has two chains available! So you have two chances to win! Giveaway closes on Monday October 20th, sign up using the form below!
Love the rain chain! And, I did not know what to call them! My son attends school in St. Paul and is not used to the rain and serious thunder boomers thunderstorms! laura
Thanks for stopping by Laura!

Thanks for the idea! We have downspouts and I really don’t like them. This seems to be a more aesthetically pleasing alternative.
Thanks for coming by Kim!
Looks cool! We have rain barrels, if not I’d use one.
Nancy my dream is definitely rain barrels one day! Hopefully next year!
I’m already a subscriber also. May I be entered for a chance to win?
Hi Kim absolutely, I’ll make sure your on the list!
I entered my e-mail, but it didn’t say anything about being entered. Also, have I missed a post about your livingroom redo?
