It often doesn’t take very much time (or money) to repair a piece of furniture that often times would have otherwise been discarded. I’m a bit of a purest so I do tend to take the road less traveled and the much harder route when repairing furniture myself. Though, honestly, even the way I’ve gone in the past doing a full stripping, standing, staining and sealing to save an old piece, is still a very doable project for just about anyone. However, oftentimes, a coat of paint and a good sealer is all that’s required to bring new life to what otherwise would be a wore out piece!

Another option is refinishing the furniture. You can refinish furniture by adding a coat of polyurethane or varnish to the surface so that it’s smooth and shiny again. You could also sand off any old paint or stain and then apply new finishes or paints to the surface of your furniture. If you have a loose cushion cover on an armchair, all you need to repair it are clothespins! Simply take a clothespin and attach one end around the fabric until it’s tight enough for it to stay put.
Sometimes, you don’t have to buy new furniture in order to repair it. If you find that a piece of furniture is beyond repair, don’t throw it away! All it needs is some TLC and upcycling.
