I haven’t disclosed this often on the blog but I am actually in the real estate industry for my day job. My entire job is totally dependent on whether or not houses (and property) sell in my area. This summer was a pretty big boom for us. No idea exactly why (I’m sure there are many factors) but homes sold here in the blink of an eye all year. It means this was one of my busier summers and also contributed a little bit to my admittedly looking forward to when everything slows down this winter!

In 2018, homes stayed on the market for approximately 68 days before selling. While this is down from 2010, which houses were on the market for at least 140 days, it’s still a long time to wait to sell your house.

If you are like most people, you are probably looking for a way to sell your house as fast as possible. While using sites like isoldmyhouse.com is a great first step in this endeavor, there are other steps you should take as well. Use the information here to ensure your property sells as quickly as possible.

Take Amazing Pictures

Approximately 44% of homebuyers are going to start their search for a home to purchase online. Of all those searches, the majority of them are going to find pictures very helpful in determining if they actually want to see a property.

You need to make sure the photos you are posting of your home do it justice and highlight all the amazing things it has to offer. If not, you may have buyers pass right over the listing you have worked so hard to create.

If you aren’t sure you can capture the quality of photos needed, hire a professional. This small investment will be well worth if if you want to sell quickly!

Clean Everything and Everywhere

There is nothing that is less appealing to a potential buyer than if your house is unkempt. It’s a good idea to hire a professional service provider to handle the cleaning of your home – from top to bottom – if you can’t do it or don’t have the time to do it.

If your home is listed for sale, you need to make sure that it is neat and clean both day and night. Some of the places you need to ensure are spiffy at all times include the garage and basement, kitchen counters, baseboards, inside closets, corners where dust may collect, and the bathrooms.

Get Rid of Personalized Items

While you may love your family photos, people who are thinking about buying a house want to be able to picture their own family there. If yours is staring back at them, this may be difficult and can make it harder to sell your home.

Take some time to get rid of all the personalized items in the space. This is going to make it much easier for a potential buyer to be able to imagine themselves and their personal things in the home.

Let Natural Light Come In

Creating a light and bright space is a great way to show off the amazing features in your home. Take some time to open all the shades, blinds, and curtains and turn the lights on if there’s a dark or gloomy looking room.

If the available natural light is limited, think about placing light sources or lamps strategically to help set the mood. While you have your house listed for sale, make sure to open up the curtains and turn the lights on each time you leave the house for errands or work just in case someone wants to see it before you get back home.

Make Sure Your Home is Available to Buyers

If you want to sell quickly, you need to ensure that your home is always available. Remember, a buyer is going to have their own schedule and the more accommodating you are, the more likely you are to sell fast.

Selling Your Home Quickly – It is Possible

As you can see, there are several tips and tricks you can use to sell your home quickly. If you are ready to put your home on the market, be sure to keep the things here in mind.
