Tool hangers in our workshop closet… In my last post I think I got you guys up to date on the situation of my workshop (or I bored you to death) either way a lot of the workshop moved out to the garage finally giving this room some space. I covered the move out in my last post but I didn’t cover how I dealt with everything we still wanted to keep. My goal was an empty room so I had to figure something out!

To be fair there were a few things that didn’t belong in this room and had homes elsewhere but, mostly, everything we wanted to keep in the house, that was in this room, had to go in the closet of this room… Or, at least, that was my goal.

It was a little daunting initially so I really just put my head down and started hauling, purging and organizing. (As you know from my last post… my back hurt for a week lol.)

I was pleasantly surprised when I got to this point though.

Its not hard to imagine that just organizing things a little better really frees up a lot of space and that’s exactly what happened.

I had no problem moving all four of our magnetic tool hangers into the closet with room to spare.

The previous storage I had for all of our drills was the worst use of space possible complete with two fancy screws each to hang them on!

I’ve always wanted these tool hangers so I ordered a pack of them on Amazon and, yes, they are just as awesome as I had imagined.

Where as before our drills, drivers and hammers took up a ton of wall space they all just hang so nice side by side now. And one spot on the rack hung all of our hammers together!

Things that still bug me:

This is a huge closet! Its 10 feet wide and over 3 feet deep with a lot of space on either side of the door opening.

On the right side I built shelves a few years ago and still have to do some spring cleaning with all the random stuff we’ve got stored there.

On the left side (which you can kind of see) there’s nothing going on so I want to eventually build some shelves over there too.

It looks pretty packed (hence, a couple more shelves on the left so we can spread out some more) but I’m really loving how the tool hangers and everything turned out and YES I even managed to totally empty the room!

Great idea for organizing tools. I personally like idea of how you hung the heavy ones. Now, if you can find a way to organize the batteries. I would be grateful. Annie
