So I hurt my foot. Well it does seem to happen no matter what I do and no matter how careful I am. As my best friend Rachie always says in shock at me, “You kicked your own ass!” SO TRUE! I am VERY good at beating myself up. To be fair to myself though it was a really warm day and we were only pounding in fence posts so it wasn’t that dumb of a choice to wear tennis shoes instead of boots.
My VERY heavy fence post pounder slipped out of my sweaty hand to land directly on the top of my not-very-well-protected foot. In true “me” fashion, I bounced around for a bit, complained for four seconds and hoped if I ignored it it would go away.
It did not go away.
(Please forgive how dirty my foot was, I was working in my yard all day, I promise I will take future pictures of my injuries after my shower next time! Oh and speaking of showering my septic tank thawed and I am FINALLY able to use my master bathroom again!!!!! Hallelujah!)
Despite the fact that my poor foot ached the whole dang night, it really wasn’t that bad. I still had to take a picture of the amazing blue color I had expanding over it though lol. Here it is almost a week later, still sporting some pretty impressive color!
Kids, allow me to reiterate – just wear your boots no matter how hot it is. You won’t regret it!
As I mentioned I had planned on expanding my horse pasture all the way to the road. My best friend looked at me and said “Let’s do it!” So, we did it! Thank you Rachie hon for the help!
The horses are just so excited and it is SO cool to have them closer to the house now. It is also in keeping with my lawn annihilation plan.
I often come home from work now to see them close to the house and I absolutely love it as much as they do.
Spring is finally, truly, in full swing and I’m enjoying all the critters visiting me on my deck right now.
Meanwhile, I had some pretty wonderful (and incredibly cuddly) room mates for ten days. Everyone I am pleased to introduce you to Harley (the brindle) and Keisha (the black sausage) my best friend Rachie’s two pups.
To call it “pup sitting” though would suggest that it was a job lol Mostly we played, cuddled, ate and slept – oh and, of course, I took a million pictures and spoiled them rotten!
Parting with them was sad but I can’t tell you how much I worried! Like eight heart attacks later because we all just KNOW that if mom and dad are gone one of those two doggos is somehow gonna hurt themselves on my watch!!! *shrieks*
Every day before I left for work I told them, “JUST DON’T HURT YOURSELVES OR DIE!!!!”
Meanwhile they were big goof balls and I so totally miss the kindastinky-happy-softy-cuddly-alittleslimy-oh-so-wonderful-dogginess because there is just nothing that compares to a dog’s love.
Or doggy morning breath which is totally the only good way to be woken up in the morning! My operation BLISSFULLY HAPPY would not have been complete without those two!
Yes, I know, I need to adopt myself my own cuddle bug but, so far, I have been very happy with my quiet house after my divorce. Emotionally I had nothing left to give and the quiet happy is where I have found myself finally healing.
Years ago I had thought about, someday, opening my home to foster dogs for future adoption. My heart is beginning to turn that way again.
But first, I have some things I need to get off my plate.
House work! (Of course!) The stone on the front of my house is falling off (I’ll tell you all about it soon) and my garage still needs fixing but my spring to-do list is almost totally checked off now and I am excited (despite my sore foot lol) to have got this far already!
